Dr. Madan Mariappan, affectionately known to many patients as Dr. Madan, is an internationally experienced General Practitioner, Medical Educator, and Clinical Supervisor. His career spans clinical practice, medical education, and community medicine across India, Australia, and Canada.

Key Clinical Roles & Practice

Carrum Downs, Victoria (Australia): Serves as a full-time General Practitioner at the Village Family Medical Centre. His clinical areas of interest include complex medical issues, chronic disease management, travel medicine, men’s health, and mental health.

Bay d’Espoir Medical Centre, St. Alban’s (Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada): Has provided critical healthcare to rural Central Newfoundland since 2014, serving as both a locum and full-time family physician. Affectionately embraced by the local community, Central Health secured him in a permanent full-time physician role to support the St. Alban’s region.

Medical Education, Supervision & Governance

Medical Educator & Supervisor: Works with Eastern Victoria General Practice Training (EVGPT) to educate and train the next generation of general practitioners.

Qualifications & Career Timeline

Foundational Training: Completed basic medical degree (MBBS) and specialist training in India.

Rural Practice & Fellowship (Australia): Relocated to Australia in 2007 to work in rural Queensland. Earned Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2009.

Specialist Training: Moved to Melbourne in 2011 for physician training, successfully passing the specialist theory examination before returning to full-time general practice.
